A tour in the centre of Positano includes the S. Maria Assunta church, who’s dome rises above the town. It has many valuable paintings inside as well as six altars (five of which are marble), pillars and pilasters with Ionic capitals, and above the main altar there is a 13th century Black Madonna and Child. The bell-tower is on three levels covered by the dome.

The Costiera Trasita Tower perched on the cliff edge was probably a watch tower armed with canons and now affords great views.

The Colleggiata Church of S. Maria Assunta has paintings from the 16th century artist Giovanni Bernardo Lama and in the chapel there is a painting of our Lady of the Rosary dated from 1572. The interior was restored in 1772, consisting of three naves, a wooden pulpit with paintings of St. Peter and St. Paul and an altar in 16th century majolica.

A Positano tour wouldn't be complete without mentioning the many fashionable boutiques although don’t expect to find a bargain. You will find fashionable clothing, perfumes and typical products on Via Pasitea, as well as traditional ceramics and hand crafted items.
